Budapest is the perfect location for an adrenaline fueled and fun stag weekend. During the day you can find a wide range of daytime activities while at night, for partying and having a few drinks, the options are numberless. Bustling and modern life are apt ways to describe the city.
Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is the capital of Hungary. Hungary is geographically located in Central Europe but politically it is considered one of the ex-Eastern European Block countries. Almost from every aspect it is right on the border between Western and Eastern Europe. While many Warsaw Pact nations were poor and backward during the communist years in Eastern Europe, Hungary was rather well off and free. Despite its Communist past, Hungary practised the so called “Goulash Communism,” that means Hungary set up its banking and industry to deal with the Western World. After the Berlin Wall fell down Budapest has very quickly become a quintessential European city from head to toe.
Budapest is a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube. The “Duna” divides Budapest to two parts - Buda and Pest. The river runs through the middle and presents a breathtaking view of beautiful old buildings and incredible architecture. Despite the efforts to modernize Budapest, it managed to preserve its identity. Budapest is known as the Paris of Eastern Europe or the The Pearl – for some the Queen – of the Danube.
The population of Budapest is 2.000.000 people. As a capital, this number is neither large nor too small.
Since 2004 Hungary has been a member of the European Union, but still uses the Hungarian Forint. At the time of print the exchange rate is approximately 1 GBP = 300 HUF. To get information about the applying exchange rate please click here
