It gave home for the hungarian kings for 700 years. It was build during the 12th century. Through its history it was besieged 31 times and destroyed and rebuilt 6 times. It looks different since the WW2 because during the war it was complitelly destroyed and it was burning for 2 weeks. Now it gives home to mainly museums (Hungaraian National Galery, National Széchényi Library) and goverment buildings.
